It was a great joy for Localjinni to show ANU School of Art and Design students their works this week, projected in Civic’s alleyways. Localjinni’s new AlleyHART walk explores the city’s rich history and art.
The student’s print and animation works responded to a brief, pitched by Localjinni as part of their coursework. Their chosen themes illustrate the fear and excitement of night-time cities covering issues to do with drugs, sexual assault to the leaping of tall buildings through the extreme sport of parkour. See a some of the projections below.
Localjinni’s AlleyHART walk also includes little know footage from the National Film and Sound Archive, revealing the ANU’s importance in the development of the city’s political and cultural life.
Thanks to Dr Lucien Leon, lecturer Photography and Media and Arts and Dr. Anna Madeleine Raupach, Lecturer, Printmedia and Drawing for their support.
At their best cities are powerhouses for new ideas and inter-generational productivity – brought about by collaborations of this kind.
